~*And I Don't Want to Live This Life: A Mother's Story of Her Daughter's Murder*~by Deborah Spungen

I have read this book well over twenty times. Every single time I read it I am so moved by Deborah and what she went through trying to help a child that was turned away at every turn. No one understood what was wrong with Nancy and no one really wanted to understand. She was too smart, too high strung and honestly just too difficult. She was a complicated child born into a world and a time where no one, including the medical community knew how to handle her. Drugged from birth did she ever really stand a chance? Was she predestined to be an addict? It certainly seems so.  Deborah's journey was harrowing and you can't help but feel for her and the Spungen family. Nancy seemed to affect everyone in her life. This book is about more than the murder of Nancy by her boyfriend punk rock legend Sid Vicious. She was someone's child and this book covers every little detail of her life and death in a beautiful, sad way. I recommend this book to everyone I know and no one has ever wal...

~*IT by Stephen King*~

I have been a Stephen King fan since I was a kid. The first novel of his that I remember reading was "Christine" when I was in fifth grade. If I had to pick a favorite King novel I would be pressed to choose between "The Stand" and "IT". I guess "IT" is the winner since for years I never skipped a Summer without reading it until recently. I remember the first time that I read this novel I was walking home and it was raining. I carefully avoided any sewer drains! This is more than a horror story even though it is an excellent horror novel. It is about love and friendship. The deep bond that is formed between friends when you are children is special. This book always felt almost like a fairy tale. I know that is probably what many would not categorize this as but don't most fairy tales read like horror stories for children?  If you have somehow skipped out on this novel and have only seen the movies (both are great BTW) you really need to p...

~*Your Life Is Mine by Nathan Ripley*~

I would like to thank Atria Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Blanche Potter is an acclaimed documentary film maker but she also happens to be the daughter of cult leader Chuck Varner. In 1996 when Blanche was a child he took her to a mall and told her to go find her Mother, began to shoot up the mall and ultimately turned  the gun on himself. After Blanche's mother is murdered she must return home and face the demons she has been running from for years. I really am a huge fan of psychological thrillers and though I went into this novel expecting to fall in love but I ended up just walking away entertained. I really enjoyed the writing style of Nathan Ripley but there is just something about this book that didn't hook me the way I wanted. Blanche was fine as a character but I really didn't care for her the way that I wanted to.  I would say that this is much more of a slow burn kind of novel. I ...

~*The Rumor by Leslie Kara *~

5 out of 5 stars! First off I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher Ballantine books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchanged for an honest review. Jo isn't the type of woman who spreads rumors. Well, at least not normally but then again a woman will do anything to help her child to fit in and belong! You see, she hears a little rumor and though she has no desire to mention it to anyone she lets the rumor slip at a book club.  It seems that there may be a child killer in their midst. A woman named Sally stabbed little Robby Harris when she was a child. She has been released for years and living under an assumed name. It seems she MAY have settled in their little town! Though Jo promises herself that she will not mention it again. It is a promise she plans to keep until she   finds out her son Alfie who was once bullied in the city they lived in before she moved to the small town to be hear her Mom and to save Alfie from bullying is...

~*Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

I am so glad that I picked up this series. I loved "Strange the Dreamer" but I loved this book even more. You really got a great background on the world and how many of the characters became who they are. Lazlo and Sarai are definitely one my most favorite couples ever! Their love story is just so beautiful.  What I love so much about this story is the way Laini Taylor writes villains. There are so many layers to them and you often find yourself feeling so much for them. I really don't want to ruin this for you so I will just say that this is an absolutely beautiful follow up to "Strange the Dreamer". You will not be disappointed!

~*The Last Thing She Remembers by JS Monroe*~

5 out of 5 stars I am a sucker for a good lost memories/amnesia thrillers and this was totally right up my alley. Tony and Laura are going about their normal day when a young woman appears at their door. She has no memory of who she is, of where she is from but she knows she belongs in their house. All she knows is that she got off of a flight from Berlin but she doesn't have her luggage, purse or ID. She can however tell them in detail the layout plan of the house. Just as Tony is about to shut the door in the girt's face she collapses. After bringing the girl in they feel as if they should look out for her. They bring her in and try and take care of her. Laura decides to call her friend who happens to be a GP. Tony meanwhile gives the girl a name, he decides to call her Jemma with a J. They invite her to stay the night in hopes that she will wake up in the morning and remember who she is. From there the story starts rolling! It is hard to give this fantastic, twisty nov...

~*Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

5 out of 5 stars I have been hearing about this book for about a year when one of my top booktubers starting raving about how much she loved the book. Her love of this book had me super curious to pick this up but then another book would come out and I would end up getting that one. I also started reading a lot of ARCs so that had made me a bit busier. I finally bought this in audio form and I am so glad that I did. When we first meet Lazlo Strange, a foundling raised by Monks who has spent most of his life in the library reading and dreaming. Life has been pretty dull for the librarian until "The God Slayer" comes to town looking to create the perfect group to help him with a very special mission to help protect the people of the town Weep. Lazlo is surprised and thrilled to be chosen to go along even though he has no idea why they would they be interested in a quiet, shy dreamer. Meanwhile in the citadel above the city of Weep a young Goddess named Sarai, one of only five G...
