~*The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michelle Campbell*~

4.5 out of 5 stars I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing  to read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I believe this is my first  Michele Campbell novel and I didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a really good, fun and twisty thriller. I will admit that at first I did not like Tabitha but that was before we really got to know her. She ended up being a very interesting character. I always enjoy watching characters navigate the wealthy and powerful world after living in the "outside" their whole lives. Each character tends to have their own way of trying to fit in. The mystery was well written and I really cared about Nina and felt for her in a lot of ways. The setting was pretty awesome and this held my interest very well. I won't say much more because the  twists are fun and I don't want to risk spoiling this you all! Would I recommend this to a friend? Well, duh! Of course I would! Pick this up t...

~*The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

5 out of 5 stars This is the second novel that I have read by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. The first one that I read was "An Anonymous Girl" which was in my top five books that I read in 2019. It was an amazing psychological/Domestic thriller that left me unable to put it down. Well, this one did not disappoint at all! This is one of the best books I have read this year. There is something about the way Hendricks and Pekkanen write that leaves me blown away. I am so excited for their new book next year! After Blanche's mother is murdered she must return home and face the demons she has been running from for years. I really am a huge fan of psychological thrillers and though I went into this novel expecting to fall in love but I ended up just walking away entertained. I really enjoyed the writing style of Nathan Ripley but there is just something about this book that didn't hook me the way I wanted. Blanche was fine as a character but I really didn't care for her the way that I wanted to.  I would say that this is much more of a slow burn kind of novel. I ...

~*The Weight of Lies by Emily Carpenter *~

I decided to listen to the audio version of this because I always like to pick one audio book to listen to as I get ready for bed. This was a good choice. The narrator Kate Orsini was really good. If you love a good Southern Gothic then this novel is for you. Meg has spent her whole life in the shadow of her novelist mother. Francis Ashley is famous for the novel "Kitten" the ultimate "killer kid" novel. The book which may or may not have been based on an actual murder was such a sensation it attracted a group of fans so obsessed they call themselves Kitty Cultists. They are so obsessed that they used to travel to the famous hotel on Bonnie Island where the real murder the book was based on took place. They spend hours online researching, determined to solve the crime. To prove that the real "Kitten" murdered young Kim Baker when she was just eight years old. As the 40th anniversary of the novel's release approaches the hype around the book grows ev...

~*Final Girls by Riley Sager*~

5 out of 5 stars Quincy Carpenter is a member of a very exclusive club, she is a final girl. There are three girls that are members of this club and to be one you must be the lone survivor of a mass murder. Quincy managed to survive the Pine Cottage Killings ten years ago back when she was in college. She thinks she has her life together now, a live in lawyer boyfriend, a successful baking blog and a lovely apartment in NYC. Sure, she also happens to drink too much wine and she depends on Xanax a little bit too much.  The life that Quincy thinks she has starts to fall apart after she finds out that the original Final Girl Lisa is found dead and the only other Final Girl Sam shows up on her doorstep.  I loved this book. It totally read like a horror film. There were many good twists and turns some I completely saw coming and some that did come as a surprise. The biggest weakness was the fact that Quincy was so easily influenced. That is something that I would have expecte...

~*Beautiful Bad by Annie Ward*~

3.75 stars I would first like to thank Netgalley and Park Row Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. We first meet Maddie as a desperate voice at one end of a 911 call.  As the story progresses we bounce back and forth between Maddie's first person POV to the third person POVs of her husband Ian and the first responding officer to the 911 call. Told from the early 2000's to present day we follow the complicated relationship of Maddie,Ian and her best friend Joanna all over the world. As we begin to fit the puzzle pieces together to discover what happened we also have a countdown to the event starting ten weeks prior. There is a lot of strong parts to the book. I loved the countdown, seeing what was happening in Maddie's life as she worked through the repercussions of an accident that has left half of her face scarred and her memories of the night that it happened blurry at best. Suffering from a brain injury sh...
