5 out of 5 stars This is my first Karin Slaughter book and I really, really enjoyed it. When Charlie Quinn was 13 two young men seeking revenge on her defense lawyer Father broke into her house and murdered her Mother in front of her and her older sister Sam. The sisters were then marched out to the woods to be "taken care of" as well. Charlie managed to escape. Years later Charlie finds herself at the middle school when a a school shooting takes place. Two people are left dead, the principle Mr. Pinkman and little Lucy Alexander who dies as Charlie holds her hand. It seems that high school student Kelly Wilson is guilty but why was she at the middle school in the first place? Rusty, Charlie's Dad believes that Kelly is a unicorn (a rare client that is actually innocent). The memories of that that fateful night when Charlie's life was torn come back to haunt her all over again. The novel jumps back and forth to various POVs and various points in time and Slaug...
