~*What Kind of Girl by Alyssa B. Sheinmel *~

Thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire  I thought that the first part of this novel took a really interesting and unique approach. It is told through different POVs with no names so you may be following The Girlfriend, The Popular Girl, The Burn Out and so on. That really pulled me into the story.  "What Kind of Girl" tackles some very hard topics and does a pretty good job with most of them.  This is kind of a hard book to review without giving too much away so I will try my best to just discuss the main story which is really the lynch pin of the book anyway. One Spring morning a teen girl goes to the principal to report that her boyfriend has been abusing her. She is embarrassed and confused. She doesn't know what to do but she remembered as a kid that you were supposed to tell someone if you were being hurt.  Eventually we do actually find out who is is and I think it actually came at the proper time in the book for me. The only reason I didn't give this a h...

~*Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison*~

4 out of 5 stars I would like to thank Netgalley and Mira books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. I discovered J.T. Ellison in November of this year and have become a fan of hers. I was super thrilled to be able to read this new book which will be released on December 30,2019. In the small town of Marchburg, Virginia there is an elite girl's school where only the best of the best attend. One October morning a girl is found dead, hanging from the gates.  We flash back to August when Ash arrives from England. The Goode school is a whole other world from what Ash is used to. With judgmental and snobbish girls, secret societies and the honor code, as well as being in a new country she wonders how and if she will survive.  J.T. Ellison is really good at slowly revealing secrets and characters true personalities and this novel is no exception. She leaves you interested in where the story line is going. This is a fun, twi...

~*What Happened That Night by Deanna Cameron*~

For as long as Clara cab remember she has had a crush on the boy next door Griffin Tomlin. When he finally notices her she can't believe her luck.  Then one Winter night during a party things change completely.  Clara begins to withdraw into herself, doing her best to stay away from Griffin. Clara knows why she did it but she can't tell anyone the reason. When Clara meets Aniston who is determined to find out why Emily killed Griffin truly dark  secrets begin to come out and Clara begins to wonder if life will ever feel normal again. ~*Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo*~

3.75 stars This was actually a very hard book to rate for me. For one thing it is one of the most hyped, popular books that I have ever read and I went into it very excited. However, this was one of the slowest books I have ever read. I listened to it on audio and the every VA was fantastic so it had nothing to do with that. For me the book just didn't get going until there was about 45% left. The reason I chose to rate it what I did was because when this book got started it really got started! There were many surprises, twists and turns around every corner. I loved the secrets that the characters that kept from us. The intricate plots woven together kept me hooked. I had no issue with the fact that this totally ends in a cliffhanger. My only other main issue is the fact that it seems like everyone seems to pair up. I love a good romance but we don't need all six of the main characters to either be in love or heading that way. Would I recommend this book? In a heartbeat. I...

~*Pretty in Punxsutawney by Laurie Boyle Crompton *~

Can I give this more than 5 stars?  First I want to thank Netgalley and Blink Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review. This is the best book I have read so far this year! I like YA contemporary novels but my favorite style of books has been thriller so this is saying a lot considering I have read some good thrillers already this year. I am not sure if I loved this so much because it is a mash up of my favorite John Hughes Film "Pretty in Pink" and my favorite time loop movie "Groundhog Day" (okay and Happy Death Day but whatever!)or if I loved this so much because the main character agrees with me on whom Andie should end up with in "PIP" but I just adored this book. I just know that this book really got to me in the best of ways. If there was a feeling this book made me feel it. I loved the main character of Andie and I loved all of the other characters in this sweet and funny novel that is perfect for a ...

~*The Revolution of Jack Frost by K.M. Robinson*~

3.5 Stars First off I would like to thank Netgalley & the publisher Bleeding Ink Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. For the longest time Jack Frost was one of the most underused mythical characters. I think the movie version of "Rise of the Guardians" brought him more to the forefront. Every year at Christmas the Jack Frost special comes on and I always cry so I have been a fan of his for a while!  Inside the globe no one knows knows that the weather is being controlled by  Morozoko Industries. Jack and Gen want to know why Winter lasts forever and yet Spring,Summer and Autumn seem to go by in a blink of an eye. With WInter lasting so long the residents have a very short amount of time to harvest what they need to survive the cold season to come. Life is not easy for the residents of the globe. I felt that this book was a bit of a hit and miss for me. There were parts that I really liked a lot but I di...

~*Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver*~

2.75 Stars The very first novel by Lauren Oliver that I read was "Before I Fall". I fell madly in love with that book, the writing was lyrical and the story was beautiful. Yes, it was a concept that had been done before but the way that Lauren Oliver wrote this book was just perfect in every way. I have since rad "Panic" as well as "Liesel & Po" and "The Spindlers" and I really liked them. However this book had a hard time holding my interest. I started it a while ago and I was having such a hard time getting into it I actually ended up reading two other books before picking this one back up. I really love Lauren Oliver's writing style so really that had nothing to do with it. Nick was a very likable character though Dara was not even in her journal issues she was not likable. I really hated her parts of the story. I also am like many other that found the twist to be a bit obvious. You knew what it was from almost the very start. I really ...

~*They All Fall Down Kindle Edition by Roxanne St. Claire *~

Barely 1 star! I was very, very disappointed in this novel. You know how you will go to your favorite coffee shop and eye a yummy looking cupcake everytime you? Imagine buying the cupcake thinking you will get a yummy chocolate cream (or whatever your flavor is) and it tastes like the flavor you hate most? You walk away disappointed, right? Maybe even a little bit angry? That was my experience with this book!   I had it on my list for a long time and I finally took the plunge and bought it. A big mistake. This book was nothing like I thought it would be. While I would say the actual writing was not bad the story was not good. Most of the time when a book takes a surprising leap I enjoy it and go along with it but not here. I just couldn't follow along with this one. I won't go into details too much because I don't want to spoil anything. I will say that this is not your typical mystery in a very bad way.

~*Watch You Burn by Amanda Searcy*~

First off I want to thank NetGalley and  Delacorte Press for allowing me to read an advance copy of this novel for a full and honest review. This was a 3.5 stars read for me. This was my first Amanda Searcy book and I did enjoy it quite a bit. The novel had the feel of the old school YA mystery/thrillers that I used to and in reality still do really enjoy reading. It had the feel of Christopher Pike or R.L. Stine (Not Goosebumps R.L. Stine but the YA version). The novel begins with Jenny arriving from Ohio where she lived with her Mother, Step Father and half sister Hailey after an unfortunate incident. to a small town in New Mexico to live with her Father. Shortly after she arrives a slew of fires begin to appear within walking distance of the Motel she is staying in.  There is no point in hiding the fact that Jenny is the one starting the fires as it is revealed very quickly. We also find out quickly that she was in a fire herself as she has a burn that is an itches whenev...

~*The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu*~

I have to admit that I was a bit confused by the many poor reviews this book got. I actually liked it a lot. I thought it was very true to the rather rotten way we, as teenagers treat one another and even ourselves in the desperate need to be liked and thought of as cool. I am no longer a teenager and I was raised to actually stand up to bullies but in the process I myself had been attacked by the bullies. I can understand where each and every character was coming from. Alice is a slut who slept with two boys in one night or so says Elaine, Alice is responsible for the death of the coolest boy in school, QB Brandon Fitzsimmons if you ask his best friend Josh. Alice had an abortion if you ask her ex best friend Kelsie. Alice is perfection if you ask the class nerd Kurt. The truth lies somewhere in between. We hear all about Alice through the voices of these four characters. I will admit that most of them are not very likable characters and I hated the actions they took but if you rememb...

First, I want to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for the chance to read an advanced copy of this book. A beautiful story about a difficult subject. ~*Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson*~

I chose to read this because Peter Monn loved it so I had to pick it up! I really enjoyed it. As someone who is a big Agatha Christie fan this was right up my alley!  1930's, rural Vermont.... Albert Ellingham loves games more than anything. He decides to create Ellingham Academy a school where brilliant and different thinkers can attend for free. The concept of the academy is making learning a fun game. Things are going great until Albert's wife and daughter are kidnapped and a smart female student is killed. ~*Medallion of Murder by B.R. Myers*~

First off I want to thank NetGalley and Blue Moon Publishers for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel. I have just recently discovered this series and it has become one of my favorite series ever in the mystery genre. I requested this book and then realized it was the third book in a series so I quickly picked up the first two books and read them back to back so that I would not be lost. It was a smart move because I think I would have been slightly left out of the relationships. I actually think that is a good thing because BR Myers does not spend time on a full chapter of back story. She does pepper the information throughout the book when you need a refresher here or there. I think that is a better way to do things as it does not slow down the story. that being said you can totally read this book and not really be lost. You just won't have the ability to see Terry meet each person from the previous books. This book picks up at Christmas time with Terry still stru...

~*Asp of Ascension (The Nefertari Hughes Mystery #1) *~

If Buffy and Nancy Drew had a baby it would be Nefertari Hughes! I found this book by accident but I am so thrilled that I did. I had requested the ARC for the third book in the series without realizing it was the third in the series. I was thrilled to find that the first two books were available through Kindle Unlimited. I am so glad I found them. I loved this first book in the series! As someone who grew up reading the old Nancy Drew novels, everything Lois Duncan, R.L Stine and my King of YA Christopher Pike ths was made for me. Nefartari (Terry) Hughes finds herself in the smaller city of Devonshire in New England after Terry and her Mother were involved in a collapse on a dig in Egypt. It also left her leg crippled. Terry's motto have become "Do Not Get Involved". It becomes increasingly harder to not get involved. She starts to become attached to her partners in her history class, outcast Maude and ach the golden boy athlete as well as the class new paper reporter F...

~*Looking for Alaska*~

Okay, I have to say this book is certainly a case of an over hyped book and author. I just don't get how everyone loves John Green. I am so sick of the whole manic pixie dream girls that authors like John Green love to put in novels. I find this book to be problematic in so many ways. I felt it could have been a good book, hell, it could even have just been better but it was not. There were lines that were brilliant but the book as a whole was not even good to me and I feel like giving it one star was too kind. Not great. I am sure if any John Green fans ever come across this review I will get trashed but I just could not give this a good review.
