I have to say that at first I was thinking this was going to be a 3.5 star book but then the story began to go deeper and I knew that this deserved a higher rating. 

When Charlie returns to the small coastal town that her family vacationed at when she was younger. Something terrible happened Charlie's last Summer there, something that changed her life forever. Though she thinks she is heading there with her niece for one reason she uncovers a secret in the town, one that may just kill her.

The narrator Mhairi Morrison did a wonderful weaving the complexities of Charlie and of course Jen Williams wrote a wonderful book. This a more than meets the eye story that I think you will enjoy.

4.5 stars Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Cornerstone Digital for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review. Pre World War 1 Europe and the Goldbaum family are an extremely wealthy banking dynasty. Greta Goldbaum from Vienna does not really want to marry her English cousin Albert she does it anyway as that is what is expected and though Greta is a defiant girl she also knows that the sometimes you have to do what is expected. Greta is a fun, gregarious girl while Albert is a serious and quiet man. This novel takes us up through most of World War 1 and we follow the family through it all. With the war brewing we see how anti semitism began to take control of certain parts of Europe. A sweeping tale with Greta at the center this was a novel that I could not put down and though it was a bit long I managed to read it in 24 hours. When Ally arrives at work without her purse and wet from the rain her boss is shocked to see her. Why? She hasn't worked there in ages. After Ally goes to the hospital she is told that she is experiencing a dissociative fugue state. Now she must work to figure out what is causing this and what her triggers are. As she begins to search for her missing she finds out that she has been missing for two days and when she asks her husband why he didn't tell the doctors when he went to pick her up his excuse seems a bit odd to her.
