I love a good dark thriller and this is definitely that! When Katie Shaw was on the verge of graduating her younger brother Chris was attacked. Things were never the same after that.  Chris was never the same and Katie got over her guilt of not protecting her brother the way she felt she should have. Years later Katie has a partner and a child of her own when her brother disappears. 

Meanwhile Detective Laurence Page catches a terrible murder of a man who leads back to two terrible crimes, one of them leads back to Christopher Shaw. 

I would describe this as a slow burn dark thriller. Alex North did a good job of slowly building up tension and the performance by Rosalie Craig was fantastic.

4.5 stars Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Cornerstone Digital for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review. Pre World War 1 Europe and the Goldbaum family are an extremely wealthy banking dynasty. Greta Goldbaum from Vienna does not really want to marry her English cousin Albert she does it anyway as that is what is expected and though Greta is a defiant girl she also knows that the sometimes you have to do what is expected. Greta is a fun, gregarious girl while Albert is a serious and quiet man. This novel takes us up through most of World War 1 and we follow the family through it all. With the war brewing we see how anti semitism began to take control of certain parts of Europe. A sweeping tale with Greta at the center this was a novel that I could not put down and though it was a bit long I managed to read it in 24 hours. When Ally arrives at work without her purse and wet from the rain her boss is shocked to see her. Why? She hasn't worked there in ages. After Ally goes to the hospital she is told that she is experiencing a dissociative fugue state. Now she must work to figure out what is causing this and what her triggers are. As she begins to search for her missing she finds out that she has been missing for two days and when she asks her husband why he didn't tell the doctors when he went to pick her up his excuse seems a bit odd to her. Will Ally be able to solve the mystery behind what is going on with her before it is too late?  Pick up this fun thriller! It is a great way to spend a day or two!
