~*The Last Final Girl by Stephen Graham Jones *~
1 star out of 5
Man, this was terrible. I am only given this a one star because I thought there was a good premise somewhere in this horribly written novel. I guess because I am a horror/slasher fan I am meant to love this book? Apparently that is the case since many of the reviews seem to tell that it is. The problem is that the author cant go for more than a few sentences without tossing in some kind of quote from a slasher film. He also loves giving characters various horror legend's names. I kid you not, there is a character named Jamie Curtis. The fact that this is told in script form did not help it all. In fact I think it hurt it. When you read a script you read it differently than a book. I have always found that I seem to pay attention on a higher level when I read a script so that means I am even more rapped up in this than I even am in a book. Because of that the cheap lines, bad jokes and horrid writing was even more noticeable. I had wanted to read this for awhile but I ended up walking away from this very bored and kind of angry with just how bad this book was.
