~*Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid *~

5 out of 5 stars After reading "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" I knew I wanted to read more by Taylor Jenkins Reid and when one of the booktubers I follow mentioned this I immediately picked it up. I am so glad that I did. This little novella is told entirely through letters between two married couples. When David Mayer gets a  letter from Carrie Alsop informing him that she has found out about an affair between her husband and his wife a friendship grows between them. This was a lovely novel and Carries and David's growing friendship throughout the letters is actually very sweet. I don't really have a lot to say as the novel is short but I would definitely pick this one up. It is free to read on kindle or listen to via audible with kindle unlimited. I chose to listen to the audio version and I think that made the novel even better for me. Pick this one up. You won't be sorry!

~*Final Girls by Riley Sager*~

5 out of 5 stars Quincy Carpenter is a member of a very exclusive club, she is a final girl. There are three girls that are members of this club and to be one you must be the lone survivor of a mass murder. Quincy managed to survive the Pine Cottage Killings ten years ago back when she was in college. She thinks she has her life together now, a live in lawyer boyfriend, a successful baking blog and a lovely apartment in NYC. Sure, she also happens to drink too much wine and she depends on Xanax a little bit too much.  The life that Quincy thinks she has starts to fall apart after she finds out that the original Final Girl Lisa is found dead and the only other Final Girl Sam shows up on her doorstep.  I loved this book. It totally read like a horror film. There were many good twists and turns some I completely saw coming and some that did come as a surprise. The biggest weakness was the fact that Quincy was so easily influenced. That is something that I would have expecte...

~*A Map of the Dark (The Searchers #1) by Karen Ellis, Katia Lief*~

4.75 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Mulholland Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy for an honest review. The first book in The Searchers series is a definite must read.  FBI agent Elsa Meyers has not had an easy life and things are not getting any easier as she tries to deal with the impending death of her Father.  When a teenage girl named Ruby from Forest Hills goes missing Elas is on the case. As the hours tick by she knows that the chances are getting slimmer that Ruby will be found. Can she find the girl before its too late? The mystery/thriller part of this novel is well written but the best part of the novel is Elsa herself. She is an interesting and flawed character that you find yourself rooting for.  I am definitely interested in spending more time with her.

Last Night (The Searchers #2) by Karen Ellis

4.35 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Mulholland Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy for an honest review. This is the second novel in a relatively new series. I was given the chance to download both books so I spent the last few days reading them. The first book in the series is called "A Map of the Dark". This is a bit of a harder story to review as I don't really want to give anything away and since this is more of a slow burn type of novel not much actually happens. I would say that this is more like a slice of life procedural novel. Titus "Crisp" Crespo is about to graduate but one bad night puts everything he has worked so hard for at risk. The lead character is Detective Lex Cole and though the character had real potential I feel as if there was just something missing with him. I felt that the main character Elsa Meyers from the last book had a much stronger voice. I did really like the LBGTQ+ rep in the book Cole could have been writte...

~*Between the Lies by Michelle Adams*~

Thank you to Netgalley and St.Martins Press for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. 5 Stars! So far this has been a very good reading year with many really good books and this was a great one! Chloe wakes up from a month long coma after being in a horrendous car crash. Suffering from a bleed on her brain she has no real memory of what happened and worse, she has no memory of anyone in her life. Gloe is released to the custody of her family but she doesn't know who to trust. She feels trapped in her parents estate with the locked gates and isolation. Her Father who happens to be a renowned psychiatrist insists on treating her memory loss in his own way and though she is slowly getting her memory back she does not feel comfortable with the way he is treating her. I mean really who would feel comfortable being treated by their Father in this way? She does not trust him and as her distrust grows she finds herself trusting  her Mo...

~*Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo*~

3.75 stars This was actually a very hard book to rate for me. For one thing it is one of the most hyped, popular books that I have ever read and I went into it very excited. However, this was one of the slowest books I have ever read. I listened to it on audio and the every VA was fantastic so it had nothing to do with that. For me the book just didn't get going until there was about 45% left. The reason I chose to rate it what I did was because when this book got started it really got started! There were many surprises, twists and turns around every corner. I loved the secrets that the characters that kept from us. The intricate plots woven together kept me hooked. I had no issue with the fact that this totally ends in a cliffhanger. My only other main issue is the fact that it seems like everyone seems to pair up. I love a good romance but we don't need all six of the main characters to either be in love or heading that way. Would I recommend this book? In a heartbeat. I...

~*Beautiful Bad by Annie Ward*~

3.75 stars I would first like to thank Netgalley and Park Row Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. We first meet Maddie as a desperate voice at one end of a 911 call.  As the story progresses we bounce back and forth between Maddie's first person POV to the third person POVs of her husband Ian and the first responding officer to the 911 call. Told from the early 2000's to present day we follow the complicated relationship of Maddie,Ian and her best friend Joanna all over the world. As we begin to fit the puzzle pieces together to discover what happened we also have a countdown to the event starting ten weeks prior. There is a lot of strong parts to the book. I loved the countdown, seeing what was happening in Maddie's life as she worked through the repercussions of an accident that has left half of her face scarred and her memories of the night that it happened blurry at best. Suffering from a brain injury sh...
