~*The Murder Book by Lissa Marie Redmond*~

3.5 Stars Thank you to Netgalley and Midnight Ink for allowing to to read an advanced copy of this novel for a fair and honest review. I didn't know that this was the second book in a series (The first being "Cold Day in Hell") when I requested it but, I really don't think it hindered my enjoyment of the book as Redmond gives us plenty of backstory and she does it in a way that was not intrusive or boring. I never felt lost during any point in the book. We kick right into the story as Lauren, a Cold Case detective is stabbed within the first few pages of the book. She has no idea who stabbed her but she does know one thing, it was a cop as she recognized department issued boots right before she faded out. when Lauren awakens she informs her partner Reese and the detectives working her case that she knows it was someone from the force. The only other clue to why Lauren was stabbed is the missing murder book which contains all of the information for the cold case ...

~*The Promise by Teresa Driscoll*~

5 out of 5 stars First I want to thank Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. The more books I read by Teresa Driscoll the more I enjoy her writing and this was no exception. The first book I read by her was "I am watching you" and I really enjoyed it. I just finished the audio version of "The Friend" and really enjoyed it. "The Promise" was just as good even though it had a different feel. Sally, Beth and Carol, three best friends living in a catholic boarding school made a promise to keep a secret just between them forever. A secret so dark that has haunted them for life.  Now grown woman Carol has completely distanced herself from Sally and Beth to the point that they can't even find her. Sally and Beth however have grown closer So close that they are practically codependent. When news comes that the school is being demolished they are afraid that their secret w...

~*Pretty in Punxsutawney by Laurie Boyle Crompton *~

Can I give this more than 5 stars?  First I want to thank Netgalley and Blink Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review. This is the best book I have read so far this year! I like YA contemporary novels but my favorite style of books has been thriller so this is saying a lot considering I have read some good thrillers already this year. I am not sure if I loved this so much because it is a mash up of my favorite John Hughes Film "Pretty in Pink" and my favorite time loop movie "Groundhog Day" (okay and Happy Death Day but whatever!)or if I loved this so much because the main character agrees with me on whom Andie should end up with in "PIP" but I just adored this book. I just know that this book really got to me in the best of ways. If there was a feeling this book made me feel it. I loved the main character of Andie and I loved all of the other characters in this sweet and funny novel that is perfect for a ...

~*The Friend by Teresa Driscoll*~

5 stars for me! This is the second Teresa Driscoll novel that I have read, the first being " I Am Watching You"  and I really enjoyed this. I listened to it via audio and I enjoyed the narrator, Henrietta Meire's choices. I loved the interpretation of each character. They all distinctly had their own voices. If you are a fan of audio thrillers I would suggest you pick this up.   The story follows several POVs with Sophie being the main POV and the only first person. As the thriller gains momentum we meet more characters but Driscoll manages to not confuse us. We meet sweet, soft and rather quiet Sophie as she is on a train ride hours from home when she gets a message telling her that her 4 year old son Ben who was staying with her friend Emma and Emma's three year old son have all been rushed to the hospital.  From there the story goes back and forth from then to now telling the story of the friendship between Emma and Sophie. Leading us slowly to the truth behin...

~*Star Wars: Darth Vader, Vol. 2: Shadows and Secrets by by Kieron Gillen, Salvador Larroca, Adi Granov

This one gets 4.25 stars from me because though I thought it was great from the middle on it kind of dragged a bit at the start. It took me a little bit to get into this one. Once I did though I was super into it. I love every single scene with Triple zero and BeeTee. They just kind of steal the scene always and I am waiting for the next scene they are in. I am also really enjoying the hunt for Luke and watching Cader as he continues putting together every piece in the puzzle. Finding out more about Aphra and her background was extremely interesting. A solid 4.25 stars!

~*Star Wars: Darth Vader, Vol. 1: Vader by Kieron Gillen, Salvador Larroca

My hubby as been wanting me to read this for awhile and I have been putting it off. For some reason when my husband suggests a graphic novel I tend to just beat around the bush until I am finally looking for something different to read and then I pick it up. I am glad that I picked this one up.  I don't think there has ever been a time in my life when I have not been a fan of Star Wars. or as long as I can remember the movies were always a big deal in my house. That being said none of us were fans of "The Phantom Menace" or the other two movies that came after that. They kind of just don't exist in our house. I do like the newest ones though. Sorry for the ramble. Anyway this was a great graphic novel, it help my interest, the writing was crisp and the art is fantastic! It is not always easy to write about an honest, true villain and it is even harder to write about a character when you totally know what will happen and yet this managed to keep my interest. I think my ...

~*The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

3.5 stars I wanted to love this in the way that I loved Big,little lies and  The Hypnotist's Love Story but I just didn't. It started so slow and there were a decent amount of POVs to keep up with. I normally do not have a problem following multiple characters but when they all have the exact voice it gets annoying on confusing. For the first part of this all the characters melted into one blur and then we had a break fromeveryone else to meet Janie. Now Janie has a distinctive voice but that is not all that happens when we meet Janie, Liane does something a bit different in this novel. She starts to play a game of "What if" from time to time. Kind of like if so and so hd not done this then this would have happened. That made the book more interesting and kept me reading. Now on to the husband's secret... what would you do if you found a letter from your husband that read on the envelope "Only open after my death".Would you open it sooner? I am not s...
