The One by Audrey J. Cole

2 out of 5 stars  Thank you to Netgalley and Orange Sky Audio I was really hoping to love this book. When I read the description I just knew it would be for me but sadly it wasn't. I think I would more than likely enjoy other books by this author but for me Sloane and  Ethan were not likable. Now don't get me wrong, I have read and enjoyed many a book where I didn't care for any of the characters but the two leads lacked passion. You would think that the reasons that they do the things they do would make them out all of their passions and energy into making their plans work.  I also felt that nothing they did made much sense to me. Sadly, I was also not a fan of Nancy Wu as the voice for Sloane. I just felt that her voice felt a bit old for the character. I did however really enjoy Kyle Tait. As I said though  this was a misfire I do want to give more novels by Cole a read.

Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum

5 out of 5 stars Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for letting me listen to this in exchange for an honest review. Who doesn't want to spend the Summer hanging out with bad people and watching their lives fall apart? The title really fits! There are so many pretty rotten but also extremely interesting people spending the summer in the resort town of Salcombe.  This is a perfect Summer read! I am a huge fan of January LaVoy as a narrator. She never disappoints and she was amazing again.

Did You Hear About Kitty Carr by Crystal Smith Paul

4.75 out of 5 stars Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review Do you like Evelyn Hugo? Of course you do, who doesn't? Well then read this. Now, this is not a ripoff of the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but it does have that kind of feel. Old Hollywood, secrets and family. When Kitty Karr Tate, a White icon of the silver screen, dies and bequeaths her multimillion-dollar estate to the St. John sisters, three young, wealthy Black women, it prompts questions. Lots of questions. I thought the writing was fantastic and the story was great. The narrators did a wonderful job.

The Girls of Summer by Katie Bishop

3.5 stars out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review First off I want to start by saying that I enjoyed the narrator Annabel Scholey. They captured the voice of Rachel very well. I really was hoping this would be a four star for me but it just wasn't. I loved the idea of this and I assumed that this would give me exactly what I was hoping for in a Summer read. I wanted to feel Greece, the heat, the food and the smell of the ocean but it just didn't hit me in the way I had hoped it would. I do think a lot of the problem for me was that Rachel really needed to have achieved some kind of growth from her 17 year-old self to the adult that she is now and there really was none. She seemed to have not grown.

Block Party by Jamie Day

5 out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review Loved, loved, loved this novel! Okay, there are certain types of novels that are kind of made for me and this is definitely one of them. I love books that are set during a neighborhood get together and if it is set during some kind of holiday? Even better. You want to know what will make me love it even more? When we flashed back to a year prior to see what led up to the crime! This had it all. This will become one of my yearly reads. I will be purchasing it and reading it again. I adored the narrators Suzy Jackson and Megan Tusing. If you love the things I mentioned in this review then I would suggest you read this because you will love it!

Speak of the Devil by Rose Wilding

3.75 out 0f 5 stars Thank you to Netalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen to this in exchange for an honest review New Years 1999- Seven women sit in a room with the decapitated head of a man that each one had very complicated relationships with. Now they must work together to figure out which one of them is the guilty party before they all go down.  The mystery was pretty good in this even though I think they guilty party is very easy to figure out. For me where this book really shone was the character studies of the women and of the absolutely horrific victim. I read a lot of books but the victim in this had to be one of the most horrible characters I have read in a long time. The topics discussed in this are very dark and I think that will pull you in and keep your interest and the narrator Colleen Prendergast was wonderful. Each character had their own distinct voice.

Atalanta by Jennifer Saint

4.5 out of 5 stars Thank you Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. First off let me say that it was fantastic to read a retelling of Atalanta and Jennifer Salt did a wonderful job of weaving the story and pulling you in. I have always been fascinated with mythology and the Greek mythology really interested me more than others, perhaps because my given name is that of a Goddess.  There were moments where I found myself crying but in the best ways. Beth Eyre did a wonderful job narrating the story.

The Wrong Good Deed by Caroline B Cooney

3 out of 5 stars Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. I grew up reading Caroline B Cooney but have never read anything by her in an adult category. Though I love her writing I will say that this novel just didn't click with me. The story was interesting and I loved the setting of a retirement community. The narrator Mary Boyer was really entertaining and I did  like this but I just wasn't over the moon.

Wasps in the Ice Cream by Tim McGregor

5 out of 5 stars Thank you to RDS Audio and Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this novel in exchange for an honest review It's the Summer of 1987 and Mark Prewitt is just trying to keep him himself entertained and figure out who he is.  He spends his days hanging out with his friends blowing off steam and working at the ice cream shop that no one ever goes to. Into all of this come the weird sisters, three sisters that live out in the country with their strange parents. They are home schooled and hardly ever seen in town.  When Mark's friends get the idea to prank the sisters Mark begins to feel bad and decides to make amends. His life will never be the same. This is a beautiful story about coming of age, falling in love and wanting to fit in but mostly discovering who you are meant to be. Let me  say that the final paragraph shocked me!

The Witch King by Martha Wells

3 out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read a copy in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately I wanted to like this more than I did. I thought the concept was incredibly interesting but there was just something that just didn't really click with me. It could totally be a me problem because I do feel like most people who enjoy fantasy would enjoy this. I could have read this at the wrong time so I will recommend this. I suggest the audio book because Erik Mok was a very good narrator.
