Rubi Ramos's Recipe for Success by Jessica Parra

5 out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape media for allowing me to listen to this in exchange for an honest review. I fell in love with this book right away! A sweet, romance that also happens to handle serious subjects such as racism & classism, the pressure of getting into the school you want and the expectations as a first generation American.  Rubi just wants to bake, it is where she finds her joy in life and she is great at it but her parents sacrificed a lot so that she could have the best education. Getting accepted into a baking competition was not something she expected nor was falling in love. All of these things set her life on a different path. Karla Serato gave a wonderful voce to Rubi. Jessica Parra won me over completely. This is a must read for romantics.

Blood Debts by Terry J. Benton-Walker

4 out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. Though it took me a bit to get into this I did end up enjoying this. I loved Clem and Chris, the magic system was good and the setting was amazing. Who doesn't like a novel set in New Orleans? The narrators Bahni Turpin; Joniece Abbott-Pratt; Torian Brackett; Zeno Robinson were all fantastic. This does have some pretty hardcore, dark things happen in it so I would look up trigger warnings before reading this but if they do not bother you I would definitely pick this up.

The Plus One by Mazey Eddings

4.75 out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. I will admit to never having read the first two books in this series  but I really loved this one. I guess I will have to read the others. Mazey Eddings is a fantastic author. First off Indira and Jude were extremely well written and actually very real characters. The narrators Joe Arden and Imani Jade Powers had me hooked right away.  The tropes in this? Well, they are some of my favorite tropes, frenemies to lovers and fake dating. I love the way that this novel handles PTSD. As someone who suffers from it I really felt seen. There is some spice in it but it was very sweet. Pick this up!

You Know Her by Meagan Jennett

4 1/2 out of 5 stars Thank you to netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this in exchange for review.   I love a good Southern gothic thriller and this really fit the bill. The characters are well crafted.  I loved that Meagan Jennett tackled constant violence against women  but turned it on it's head with men being lured and killed. Gillian Flynn was called a misogynist because she writes bad women doing bad things. Her response was this “To me, that puts a very, very small window on what feminism is. Is it really only girl power, and you-go-girl, and empower yourself, and be the best you can be? For me, it’s also the ability to have women who are bad characters.”   Jennett really understood the assignment. The imagery can be rather grotesque when seeing things through Sophie's eyes but the story would not be the same without it.

Deep Tide by by Laura Griffin

4 out of 5 stars Thank you to to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review I am a first time reader of this series but was not lost in the least. It was super easy to follow. I really enjoyed  this well-written, intriguing, romantic thriller. I enjoyed how this opened up like a romantic comedy, kind of light and fun with a meet-cute that turned into a mystery. Leyla is a likable and spirited character, the romance was well written and the mystery really pulled you in. I really enjoyed Teri Clark Linden's narration was top notch.

Famous for a Living by Melissa Ferguson

4 out of 5 stars Thank you for allowing me to listen to this in exchange for an honest review. I honestly don't know if it is because I am falling back in love with romance books that I love all that I have read or if I am just lucking out. I think I am lucking out because this was another winner. This is a book about romance, understanding and accepting who you are. When Cat Cranwell's carefully crafted social media persona take a huge hit she finds that she needs to look deep into what she really wants out of life.  I love a city to the country storyline and I a not so opposites attract trope so I was all in.  The descriptions of nature were fantastic, the slow burning love story  had me excited to see where it would lead and the side characters were great. The narration by Talon David was awesome as well. Pick up this lovely romance right away!

Death Warrant by Bryan Johnston

5 out of 5 stars Thank you to CamCat Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. The moment I read the description of the book I knew I had to read this. I am a  Big Brother and reality TV fan so this was right up my alley. I think the scariest thing to me is that I can actually see reality TV heading this way eventually. Frankie is such a vivacious character. Her love for her brother was so heartwarming and I really enjoyed their relationship. I also really enjoyed Frankie's love of old movie and "old" movies. The mystery was well written and kept me interested the whole time. The story flew by without any slow parts. The narrator Justine Eyer was a great voice for Frankie.

Amazing Grace Adams by Fran Littlewood

5 out of 5 stars Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. I finished this last night and let me say that I did shed a lot of tears towards the end but in a good way. Grace and the other characters in this novel are all very complex. At times they are not always likable but for this kind of story that fits. The complex relationship Grace, her husband and her daughter were very well written. This story is told in a nonlinear way so if that is not your thing you may want to take that into account.  I truly enjoyed this. The writing was great and the narration by Claire Skinner was fantastic.
