~*Dead to Her by Sarah Pinborough*~

4 1/2 out of 5 stars First off I would like to thank NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel to read in echange for an honest review. I have to admit that this is only the second book that I have read by Sarah Pinborough and I was not blown away by that novel. I am happy to say that I really, really liked "Dead to Her"!   Marcie Maddox and her husband Jason really are not thrilled with having to go to the party that Jason's boss William is throwing for his new English bride. When Keisha makes her grand interest Marcie is rather shocked at first. Keisha is beautiful, sexy, young and black. Marcie can't help but wonder how the high society of Savannah will react to all all this and then she glances at her husband.  She catches Jason staring at Keisha, practically salivating as he looks at her. Marcie, who until Keisha arrived was the young, sexy second wife. She felt as if she was finally starting to get accepted...

~*What Kind of Girl by Alyssa B. Sheinmel *~

Thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire  I thought that the first part of this novel took a really interesting and unique approach. It is told through different POVs with no names so you may be following The Girlfriend, The Popular Girl, The Burn Out and so on. That really pulled me into the story.  "What Kind of Girl" tackles some very hard topics and does a pretty good job with most of them.  This is kind of a hard book to review without giving too much away so I will try my best to just discuss the main story which is really the lynch pin of the book anyway. One Spring morning a teen girl goes to the principal to report that her boyfriend has been abusing her. She is embarrassed and confused. She doesn't know what to do but she remembered as a kid that you were supposed to tell someone if you were being hurt.  Eventually we do actually find out who is is and I think it actually came at the proper time in the book for me. The only reason I didn't give this a h...

~*The Wife and the Widow by Christian White*~

4.25 out of 5 stars I would like to thank Netgalley and St.Martins Press for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. "The Wife and the Widow" is told from two very different points of view. Kate and her daughter arrive at the airport to greet her husband who had been away at a conference in London. When he doesn't get off the plane she begins to worry. She calls his boss and finds out that he had quit his job a while ago. She has no idea where he could be at first but when she gets a call from the alarm company informing her that an alarm at their holiday house located on Belport Island. Kate and her Father in law decide to head out to find out if John is there. Abby lives  on Belport Island with her husband Ray and her two teenage children. She works at the local grocery store, takes care of her children and husband, hangs out with her best friend Bobbi and spends a decent amount of time practicing her favorite hobby taxidermy.  Two...

~*The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez*~

4 out of 5 stars I would like to thank Netgalley and Del Rey Books for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for an honest review.  Nia Imani has spent decades out of time.  It may have been months for her but for everyone else it has been forever. She has watched so many people that she loves age and leave her all alone. Then one day a boy comes into her life and changes everything. She is no longer alone. She has a family.  She must do everything she can to save the boy and keep her little family intact. This was an absolutely beautifully written science fiction novel that has a bit of a fairy tale feel to it. The only reason that I gave it a 4 out of 5 was because the ending felt a little flat.  I absolutely loved the concept of this story,

~*Nameless Queen by Rebecca McLaughlin*~

3 out of 5 stars Thank you to Random Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. In the world Coin lives  there are Royals, Legals and the Nameless.. The Royals are well, Royals so I think you know what they are then there are the Legals. Legals can live in the city and have a home. They however cannot get above a certain status and then last but not least there are the Nameless. The Nameless are exactly that, they have no names and since they do not have a name they cannot work or have a home. They wear clothes that have been discarded by the higher classes. Clothes that have black marks on them so everyone will know that they are "worthless". They give themselves names. When the King dies everyone waits to see who will be the next King or Queen though most assume that  Esther, the Kings daughter will be the next Queen. When the King or Queen die they must pick their successor  by saying their name. O...
